Hey Team:

Are you missing Parkin Lot Peddlin? Me too but Kerry is taking a well deserved break. For those not in the know PLP was held outside of South Shore Cycle on Mondays for the last several years. It was a great way to keep reasonably fit while others are at home sucking back six pax of Lucky Lager and devouring Costco size bags of Hawkins Cheesies.

In its absence another great opportunity has come about. Check it out at: http://www.southshorecycle.ca/CyclingTraining.html

Chris is our host and provides a great balance, maybe even a New Balance of sound advice and enthusiasm. Chris has racing in his background, a litany of coaching perspectives, and a deep respect for what we are trying to achieve. He even plays cool DVD's showing Lance grow right before our eyes.

Why not join us and put yourself in a position to excel at next summer's R2S, Fondos and other events?

Everyone's friendly and we achieve a great blend of cadence and cameraderie. We might even go the Sundowner for a few Lucky Lagers when it's all done.

May 19/20 Kamloops Masters Series

Three Team Coastal Racing Team members made the trek to Kamloops for the long weekend. Weather was great - and the trio 'mastered' all 4 races.

The weekend started with a 14 km Time Trial ~ followed 3 hours later by a 16 km Hill Climb. Kerry White won his age category , and Murray Shaw and Gregg Elisas came second in their age category for the TT. The Hill Climb was a Mass Start, with Kerry & Gregg coming second , and Murray placing sixth in their respective age categories.

Day 2 of the weekend saw them racing with a 55 km road race in the morning. Gregg & Kerry took first place in their age categories, and Murray placed fifth.

The weekend finished off with a Criterium. Gregg took first overall, and first in his age category. Kerry came in second and Murray came in fourth in their respective age categories.

Overall, Team Coastal Racing counts this as a very successful week-end. Team Coastal Racing painted Kamloops Team Coastal Orange! Congrats to the boys for their efforts. Gregg came home with 5 medals, Kerry also earned 5 medals, and Murray came home with one.

....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Following Kerry White's victories on the the island, I travelled to Penticton on May 5 and 6 to compete in a Masters event.  I managed to get 1st in my age group for the hill climb in Summerland [Giant's Head Rd], and 3rd in my age group for the road race in Willowbrook.

The following weekend, May 12, was the Wix Brown spring series road race near Langley.  This was not a masters race, so when a break of sub-20-year-olds went off the front [including Trevor Pearson, who won the race], your middle-age correspondent did not even consider the possiblity of trying to join them. Nonetheless, did manage to do a lot of hard work at the front of the peleton, and finish solidly in the pack.

For the May long weekend, three Coastal members, myself, Kerry White, and Greg Elias, are heading to Kamloops for a 4-event masters stage race. We will have them seeing orange every time they look ahead down the road!!

Well perhaps this picture doesn't do the ride justice (taken on river road instead of the beautiful farm roads) but... it was a great one... warm, relaxed and 20 riders out!!

Thanks to all of you for coming out and ... Diana would like to know where all the ladies are!!!
