Tour de France has nothing on the Ride2Survive!
Did you know that we will climb 2,000 feet more than the longest stage of the 2009 Tour de France? Oh, and we will ride about 170km further too. Oh, and we don't ride bikes for a living! And did you also know we have survivors riding and people who got their first bike in the same year as the ride?

Find out what makes us different than other events

The Will to Survive by Megan McNeil

This video captures the essence of the Ride2Survive. One of our friends and Cancer Survivor, Megan McNeil sings her song "The Will to Survive". Megan wrote this song while at Childrens Hospital in Vancouver. She is involved with the Ride2Survive and we were so fortunate to have her sing for us at the 2007 Welcome Party for the Ride2Survive even though she was in the midst of treatment. Her song and her story are yet another reason why we do what we do. We are proud to have Megan's song as our theme.

Here is Megan's official video release

Each year, with survivors leading us into the finish...

the reason for this ride hit home. Suffering through the climbs and headwinds, while they certainly symbolize the suffering that cancer causes, they only make up one day.

The reality that our suffering on the ride is really nothing compared with fighting cancer comes through with the quote from one of our survivors who shared his story in our pre-ride meeting, that for people "to be able to wake up without fear that it will come back" - that will be a great day! Riding hard for a day is the least we can do.

The spirit of the Ride2Survive lies in the memory of those who have lost their battle with cancer, those in the throes of their fight, those in remission, and those who remain as yet undiagnosed.

The courage to commit and the strength to ride comes from those whose lives have been affected by cancer.  We never forget why we ride... for mothers, for fathers, for sisters, for brothers, for sons, for daughters, for aunts, for uncles, for cousins, for grandparents, for friends, for coworkers... for you.

Thank you all for participating in this great, grass-roots, all volunteer event... The Ride2Survive - Cycling to beat Cancer!

What are we about?

  • The Ride2Survive is a 400km, one day cycling trip from Kelowna, BC to Delta BC. We raise awareness and funds for Cancer Research through the Canadian Cancer Society. The ride started as the inspiration of two riders.... (read more about how this started)
  • We are the Canadian Cancer Society BC-Yukon regions' largest, independent, single day fundraising event.
  • We are proud that 100% of the money raised by the Ride2Survive goes directly to research programs funded by the Canadian Cancer Society.
  • No funds raised are used within the Society's administrative budget and are wholly directed to areas of research by a vote of the riders and volunteers of the Ride2Survive.
  • In 2007, donations were directed to research in Pediatric and Blood cancers.   Again this year, a vote will determine the area of research that will benefit from the ride.
  • All ride costs are incurred by riders, volunteers and a few local businesses - YOUR DONATION DOLLARS ARE NOT USED TO COVER ANY EXPENSES OF THE RIDE such as advertising, food, promotional goods, gas etc.
  • We have no paid staff, we don't pay celebrity riders to ride with us... so your donation dollars don't pay for those either.
  • It is a very personal commitment by those directly involved in the Ride2Survive; one which we believe sets us apart.
